Tuesday, July 13 was much more than just a meat dinner. It recalled what used to be the largest Meat Festival, which until not long ago was one of the main events of the summer in Monte Grimano Terme. Most of all, it honored our friend Franco Vescovelli, whom the entire Monte Grimano Terme community knew.
Franco, taken from us far too soon by fate, was the photographer for all of us, the butcher for all of us—the friend for all of us…
Even the weather didn’t interfere with this beautiful evening. It rained everywhere in the late afternoon—everywhere except Monte Grimano Terme, as if someone up there held the clouds back to keep the “celebration” safe.
Many of you joined in memory of Franco, with I Giovani Valconca offering a few hours of games for the little ones while the adults enjoyed excellent local meat prepared by Massimo and all the volunteers of the Pro Loco Monte Grimano Terme.
After the Romantic Night and Italy’s Euro 2020 victory, which brought joy to all of us, summer evenings now bring even more life to a community eager to restart after a dark year of Covid. May this dinner, in memory of Franco, serve as the springboard for the great return of the “Festa della Carne.”
