On the occasion of the Ride4Bronz gathering, many locals and visitors had the opportunity to immerse themselves in our territory and discover some of its main sites. One of these was Ca’Secco.
The small hamlet of Monte Grimano Terme was a pleasant discovery even for many residents who had never ventured to the slopes of Monte San Lorenzo. From the tiny village of Ca’Secco, the route climbed the entire mountain up to the Monte San Lorenzo Astronomical Observatory.
Ca’Secco – The History
Leaving behind the ancient mills along the Conca River, one comes across Ca’Secco, a village that still keeps the farming tradition alive. Situated at about 420 meters above sea level, the settlement offers a panoramic view of the entire Conca valley and the town of Monte Grimano Terme.

The paved road that ends directly in the village makes it easy for any curious visitor to explore the small hamlet. The local inhabitants never fail to greet sports enthusiasts or visitors. The water fountain, even during the hot summer afternoons, is always open and available for a brief and simple refreshment.
From the remaining stone houses, one can still notice the ancient limestone cladding, which testifies to the village’s long history. At the highest point of the settlement stands the small village chapel where residents once attended Mass.
The single-nave building, topped by a small bell tower, houses inside an ancient depiction of the Madonna enthroned with the Child. Particularly striking is the image of Saint Michael the Archangel, who pierces the devil at his feet with a lance. The power of these small chapels, which from the outside appear little more than a single room, lies in the fact that inside they preserve treasures and genuine works of art…
