A Leap into History: The Medieval Charm of the Old Village and the Imposing Civic Tower

Walking through the cobbled streets of the historic center of Monte Grimano Terme is like taking a journey back in time.

The village, whose name origin Mons Germanus is linked to the nearby Monte Tassi castle, almost a ‘twin brother,’ preserves an intact medieval atmosphere that envelops the visitor.

Every stone, every corner, tells centuries of history, from the first Roman evidence, through the rule of the Carpegna and Montefeltro families—with notable figures such as Federico da Montefeltro, who in the 15th century freed the castle from the siege of the Malatesta—to its integration into the Papal States and, finally, the Kingdom of Italy.
